This is another delightful addition to Emma Dodd’s series of rhyming books looking at the relationship between baby animals and their parents.
This time, it’s about a baby koala bear and her mother. The mother is trying to decide which aspect of her baby she loves the best. She lists all of baby’s wonderful attributes – the way her eyes twinkle when she smiles, her heartwarming laughter, her hugs and kisses and her sweet face – and concludes that she loves everything about her. I enjoyed reading this story to my son and listing all the special things that I love about him.
The illustrations of the koalas nestled in the trees or peeking through the leaves are stunning. Gold foil has been used to great effect throughout the book, sometimes to pick out small details and at other times to almost fill the page.
