The Ultimate Seasonal Lunchbox (Autumn) by Audrey Schaerrer

Published by Clink Street Publishing, 2022.

It’s so easy to get into a rut with your packed lunches – every day churning out the same sandwiches and snacks. If, like me, you want to add a bit of variety to lunchtimes, then this book will definitely provide the inspiration you need.

Healthy eating and cooking as a family are at the heart of this book. There’s a focus on using fresh, seasonal produce and enjoying a balanced diet. The cakes, biscuits and mini club sandwiches have lots of kid appeal and I really like how the recipes are full of different flavours and colours.

From poke bowls and salads to wraps and frittata; muffins, noodles and curries – there’s such an inviting mix of ideas. And that’s before you even get onto the biscuits, cakes and fruit pots. You could just pick one new recipe to try per lunchbox. Or you’ll notice that the book is organised in such a way so as to group two or three complementary recipes together each time. Prepare all three and then you’ve got a mini feast all worked out for you in advance.

To date, our top five recipes are:

  • Spanish frittata
  • gingernuts
  • courgette cakes with minty cucumber dips
  • Japanese style autumn noodles
  • coconut flapjacks with exotic fruits

I loved the beautiful food photography, the appealing colour photos, and the clear, easy-to-follow instructions. The Ultimate Seasonal Lunchbox has plenty of tempting food ideas and there’s easily enough variety to suit all tastes. Lunches never need be boring again!
