Kitty Quest, Trial by Tentacle by Phil Corbett

Published by Simon & Schuster, 2022.

Kitty Quest, Trial by Tentacle is a graphic novel in full technicolour glory! It’s bold and vibrant with brilliantly expressive characters. My young son loved it and it’s definitely a book which is going to be in high demand in my new classroom from September. The graphic novel format makes it easily accessible, especially for reluctant readers, and I know its going to open up reading for pleasure for many of my pupils.

Kitty Quest is formed of Woolfrik and Perigold and they’ve vowed to protect the islands of Pawdor and the city of Meowminster, which are in peril once again! Ferocious sea monsters have been spotted on shore, and the townsfolk are in a complete panic. So what if Woolfrik and Perigold are the only guild members (besides their mentor who’s a ghost), and it’s just their second week on the job? How are these two amateur heroes supposed to stop a whole army of tentacled beasts? It may just take some quick thinking, a whole lot of luck, and a little help from the most unexpected of places. In order to save all of kitty-kind, Woolfrik and Perigold are going to have to learn to work together and prove that two heads are better than one.

Kitty Quest, Trial by Tentacle is funny, often ridiculous, and a highly entertaining adventure.
