Piggles’ Guide to Space Shuttles is a brilliant introduction to space shuttles for younger readers. The concept of the book is that the reader is part of the Sty in the Sky Flight School. Astronaut Piggles is our teacher.

1C916149-8233-481B-9351-3760D959EF18The book is divided into seven lessons which each take up a double page. We are shown the different parts of a space shuttle and let inside the orbiter and flight deck. We learn about launch, orbit, re-entry and landing. There’s also a basic introduction to the concepts of gravity, thrust and air resistance.

The book is ideally suited to Key Stage 1; the explanations are clear and simple and there are colourful illustrations and detailed, clearly labelled diagrams. There’s also a handy glossary at the back.

An accessible book packed full of interesting facts.
