That’s not my elf… is one of the festive titles in this enduringly popular series of touchy-feely books. It continues with the successful format but gives it a Christmassy twist. We meet a series of elves who, for one reason or another, are not ‘my elf’. Their buttons might be too rough or their scarf too fluffy. Eventually, we find our perfect elf.
The robust board book format is perfectly suited to enthusiastic young readers and, with its bright colours, sparkly details and tactile elements, That’s not my elf…will be a hit with babies and toddlers. I know my one year-old son loves to turn the pages and touch the feely patches. The text is simple and repetitive and this, combined with the descriptive words, makes the book great for language development.
In addition to developing sensory and language awareness, the book provides plenty of opportunity for festive book talk because the elves are all busy preparing for Christmas – wrapping and delivering presents and decorating the tree.
This is a fun, interactive picture book and would make the perfect Christmas stocking filler.
