Wow! This is a brilliant book. It lets you explore the sights and sounds of the garden during the course of a day. The book begins as the sun is rising over the garden and ends as night falls. It’s a touchy-feely sound book and on each page there’s a sound button. This is where the book gets really impressive; the sound effects are amazing! Previously, my experience of this type of book had been disappointing – the sound effects were tinny and artificial. Here, however, the sounds are very realistic. Birds sing, bees buzz, frogs croak and rain falls. Each page is a delight. As well as the brilliant sound effects, the book has lots of lovely cut outs which give the pages a fabulous tactile appeal.
The cheerful illustrations are perfect for young readers; there’s an almost cartoon-like appearance to the animals. The pictures are full of colour and there’s so much to see. We notice another lovely detail each time we read the book.
My baby son loves this book and we’ve read it many times together; it’s become a firm favourite.
