Illustrated by Sarah McIntyre.
Published by Faber & Faber, 2022.
The Faber Book of Bedtime Stories is an absolutely glorious book. It’s a hardback anthology of original tales written by a fabulous range of contemporary children’s authors. There are contributions from Emma Carroll, Natasha Farrant, Aisha Bushby and Kieran Larwood – to name but a few. It’s stunningly illustrated in full colour by the brilliant Sarah McIntyre, and the book has a ribbon bookmark and a striking foiled cover. It’s definitely a book to treasure.
My son and I have been serialising the stories at bedtime and he’s been captivated. Very early on, he declared that he wanted to work his way through the entire book and so it’s safe to say that it’s been a big hit in our house.
The stories are funny, engaging, and brilliantly told. They’re full of hope and courage, friendship, and the wonders of the natural world. They’re an absolute joy to read aloud. And we love the bold and quirky illustrations that are full of personality and fun. The stories are also culturally rich and representative of diverse backgrounds.
The Faber Book of Bedtime Stories is an absolute treat of a book and would be perfect as a birthday or Christmas gift.
