Taking Time is a beautiful picture book which encourages children (and their adults) to live in the moment. It’s based on the principles of mindfulness and reminds us of the importance of slowing down and taking in the world around us: birds singing, blossom swirling, a cat’s purr, or a delicate snowflake. The book is filled with a sense of wonder and invites children to notice and gaze upon the beauty which surrounds them.
Taking Time is a gentle poem which celebrates the beauty in nature around the world. We’re given a glimpse into life in different countries and there’s a wonderfully diverse group of children in the book. I loved the world map in the inside front cover which allows you to match each child to the country that they’re from.
The book’s themes of family, love and self-care are also important:
Taking time to cherish you, and also cherish me.
Taking Time is a gorgeous book that’s been beautifully illustrated; the pictures are rich in colour and texture. They make you want to pause and take everything in. I highly recommend taking time to enjoy this stunning picture book.
