This spooky Halloween picture book is laugh out loud funny. It’s full of all the gruesome things that children love: toilet humour, burps, bogey soup… It’s set in a haunted house and is packed with a whole cast of terrifying characters from skeletons to zombies and ghosts. Also lurking in the dark are a witch, a monster, a vampire and a mummy, among others.

EB6A93A4-70AE-4ACF-81FB-300844CF3ECEI loved the colourful images of all the larger-than-life characters and the pictures also have plenty of extra details to make you squirm. There are jars of pickled eyeballs, worm sandwiches, lots of spiders and even a skull.

It’s a great book to read aloud because of the bouncy rhythm and rhyming text. My son has really enjoyed it as a bedtime story and it was a hit with my class too. Children particularly liked joining in with the catchy refrain at the end of every double page.

There’s a Troll on My Toilet is lots of fun and we loved the neat twist at the end.
