Betty is a toddler and she’s having a tantrum. About a banana. Well, she is a gorilla after all. Mr Toucan patiently tries to help. This is a funny book with fabulous illustrations. I particularly loved Betty and Mr Toucan’s facial expressions and they added another layer of meaning to the story. The use of black and white against bright backgrounds is striking and effective; Betty certainly captured by baby son’s attention. The repeated refrain makes it perfect for reading aloud. Betty’s behaviour will ring true for many parents and this light-hearted look at the trials and tribulations of a toddler is one you’ll want to share again and again.
